Former Central Bank of Sri Lanka (C.B.S.L.) Governor Dr. H. N. S. Karunatilake (80) died last Sunday.
He served C.B.S.L. for over 35 years in different capacities. An economist, Karunatilake was appointed as C.B.S.L.’s Economic Research Director in 1975. He was promoted as C.B.S.L. Deputy Governor in April 1978 and was appointed Governor on November 19, 1988.
